Humane Educators' Toolbox: Speak Truth to Power

Speak Truth to Power is a project of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, which focuses on teaching students about human rights issues through the stories of "courageous defenders from around the world."

In addition to being a book and a play,  Speak Truth to Power offers a curriculum for middle and high school students. Teachers can download the entire curriculum, or choose lesson plans that focus on a specific human rights topic, from genocide and children's rights, to bullying and slavery, to environment and non-violent activism. Each lesson plan is tied to the story of a particular defender, and new lesson plans are occasionally added.

For educators who want to explore human rights issues through the stories of ordinary heroes, this is a useful resource.
